Lily first participated in Music Together classes with her family, and is now a Registered Music Together teacher. She is pioneering our Music Together with Mandarin class starting in Dublin, January 2016. In addition to the Music Together program, Lily has previously taught Chinese and English songs and language to preschoolers.
Growing up, Lily’s love of music developed through dance and musical theater. For over 30 years, Lily has studied and performed a variety of dance styles—including tap, Latin and ballroom, jazz, bellydance, ballet, hip-hop, Chinese traditional dance, Indian folk and Bollywood dance—and has taught and choreographed dance routines for children, adults, novices, and advanced-level dancers. She has also performed with singing a-cappella groups and in musical plays.
In addition to singing, Lily plays the piano and will experiment with xylophones or any instrument in sight. She is fluent in Mandarin Chinese, familiar with French and Spanish, and knows a dash of Gujarati.
In her new role, Lily is excited about helping families spark and grow their joy of making music, and nurturing their musical development in class and at home. Just as families may enjoy reading books and looking at artwork, they may also create their own stories and drawings. In Music Together class, Lily is looking forward to doing the same thing with music—singing and playing existing songs, and also coming up with new variations—all while moving and grooving!
